We welcome Bishop Shelton Beneby to the North America Leadership Team as National Bishop of Eastern Canada!

Bishop Shelton Beneby has been a member of the church since he was fourteen, and from then to now, he has maintained a passion for serving and teaching in a wide range of ministries and engaging with young people.

Bishop Beneby devoted twenty-five years to pastoral ministry, first as Community Mission Pastor, where he founded Project TIME—a nonprofit training institute to take the gospel and love of Jesus to young, at-risk men and women in low-income urban communities.

He was subsequently appointed Senior Pastor of the Baillou Hill Road COGOP in Nassau, Bahamas and an additional twelve years in Canada as Senior Pastor of Toronto New Covenant Cathedral.

Bishop Beneby has also served as the District Overseer of Crooked Island in The Bahamas, as a member of the Board of Trustees for Tomlinson College, and as the Administrative Assistant to the National Bishop of Eastern Canada. Before entering full-time pastoral ministry, he also enjoyed a 38-year career in the Bahamas Public Service as an educator, Director of Youth, Director of Urban Renewal and Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation.

In 2015, Bishop Beneby founded Connecting the Generations International (CtGI) which is a nonprofit training institute that helps leaders connect the different generations in the church, home and community. CtGI is sponsor of the biennial International Leadership Conference (ILC)—now in its fourth season.

Bishop Beneby’s academic education includes a Master of Arts in Religion from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Master of Science in Community Education from the University of Minnesota at Mankato.

Bishop Beneby has been married to Minister Shelly Ricketts-Beneby for 36 years, and together, they have three children, Shea-Ashlee, Sherod, and Shalah. North America welcomes Bishop Beneby as the new National Bishop of Eastern Canada!
